Ceremonial First Pitch of the 1988 Tournament:
"Thrown by Ken Rankin, who has been involved with Little League since 1959.  Ken has served as manager, coach, equipment agent and has been a faithful board member for Fairbanks Little League.  In 1967, his team won the State Tournament, which was the first time the Fairbanks area ever won.  His team won state five times and three of which were consecutive.  Ken is the oldest Little Leaguer in our area and we would like to express our gratitude for all that he has down - 1988 Little League Board

"EVERY BALLPLAYER dreams of making it to Cooperstown, where baseball preserves its past.

For Fairbanksan Sean Timmons, who started pitching in North Star Little League more than 20 years ago on fields carefully tended by the late Ken Rankin, the dream has come true." Dermot Cole

"You never know how the kids are going to do in a situation like that, said Fairbanks manager Ken Rankin, who took Fairbanks teams to five straight Western Regional tournaments in the 80s.  "The main thing is for  them to have fun and to remember that they're just 11 and 12 years old."

Ken Rankin Tribute at Growden - July 18th, 2005

"I like baseball and I like kids.  You do what you enjoy doing."

"Coach Rankin" by Dermot Cole

"Rankin, a member of the Laborers Union, works in the winter months as a foreman at Clear.  He takes the summer months off to work as a manager and grounds keeper for Little League baseball."

On the "Tundra Tours Yankees"

"He was always a fan of the New York Yankees so there was no question about the name he wanted for his Little League team. They're a class operation," he said.  "I try to teach my players to act with class.  If after the game they can look in the mirror and say 'I gave 100 percent' then it doesn't matter if they've won or lost."
