Until the Alaska Goldpanners of
Fairbanks adopted the "baseball at midnight" tradition
in 1960, the event was hosted by a wide variety of town
teams. The stability afforded by the Goldpanners
organizational longevity tends to obscure the rootin'
tootin' past of this world famous Baseball tradition in
Fairbanks, where the game would only survive if local
men revived it from the deep slumber of each winter.
